In the Professional Standards for British Columbia handbook, they have some standards stated on the fourth page. I think as a future teacher these are very important to follow. The first one says “Educators value the success of all students. Educators care for students and act in their best interests” which really resonates with me. There are 9 standards that are listed but this one encompasses what it means to be the best teacher I can be.
The following are more standards that I feel are very important as a future teacher:
- Educators act ethically and maintain the integrity, credibility and reputation of the profession
- Educators understand and apply knowledge of student growth and development
- Educators implement effective planning, instruction, assessment and reporting practices to create respectful, inclusive
