Why it is useful: The BC curriculum has been so immensely useful during my time in the Education program at TRU. It has increased my appreciation for teaching so much. Throughout my first year of the teaching program, I think it was my most visited website on my internet history. I looked at it all the time! When writing my lesson and unit plans, I always referred back to the curriculum. It is very accessible to teachers and anybody for that matter. Students can even look at it, as well as parents which can be very helpful for them to track their own progress. To see if they are hitting the big ideas or the content. This is another aspect that helped me while in the program and writing my lesson and unit plans. Including the content which determines what the students “will be able to know” at the end of the unit was so incredibly helpful from the standpoint of a teacher candidate. Being able to access this website and have those supports will help me become the best teacher that I can be for my students.
